What I'm studying at University

I'm studying medicine at Cardiff University and am in my final year of study. The reason I wanted to go into medicine was because I loved science! But I also wanted a job where I could apply my knowledge to help people.

I have a first class honours degree in pharmacology and have also passed a number of Open University modules in Biology and Chemistry topics such as Human Genetics and Health Issues, and Medicines, Molecules and Drugs.

My experience of taking exams at school and applying to university

I have sat many exams. Most of these are written exams like those for GCSE and A level but I have also carried out many practical exams also during my medical course. Doctors have to learn LOADS of facts and I have many tricks to quickly learn heaps of information to help ace all kinds of exams and hope to pass these tricks to you!

How can I help you improve?

I match all my tutorials to learning objectives from your specific subject's syllabus to make sure you learn exactly what is necessary for your exams. I understand that some people learn better from pictures, diagrams and examples rather than just being spoken at and so I make sure I include many of these in your tutorials.

What learning techniques do I think work well?

I think it is best to be guided towards solving a problem yourself rather than just being told the answer. I will work though practise questions with you to make sure you understand what was taught during your school lessons. I therefore try to mix in lots of practise questions which we can work through together.
