About Jelka

I’m an experienced tutor with over three years of teaching experience and a strong academic background in the humanities. I hold an Bachelor's and Master's degree in Theatre and Performance Studies - both of which have equipped me with advanced writing, research, and critical analysis skills.

For two years, I worked as a teaching assistant at university level, where I supported undergraduate students with their coursework and graded academic writing. This experience gave me deep insight into what instructors look for in essays, reports, and research projects, and how to help students meet those expectations with clarity and confidence.

Whether you're writing your first university paper or refining your thesis, I offer structured, supportive guidance to help you express your ideas effectively and develop your academic voice.

About the lesson

Academic writing can be challenging, but it’s also a skill you can learn and master with the right support. I offer a calm, focused environment where you can build confidence in your writing and learn to communicate complex ideas with clarity and purpose.

Teaching methodology:

Process-oriented support: I guide you through each stage of writing - from planning and outlining to editing and final polish.

Structure & clarity: Learn how to organize your ideas, build strong arguments, and write with academic tone and coherence.

Language & style: We work on grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structure to ensure your writing is accurate and engaging.

Constructive feedback: I provide detailed, actionable feedback to help you grow as a writer and meet academic standards.

A typical lesson might include:

Check-in: Review of your current writing task or questions
Focus area: Work on structure, clarity, or specific sections
Practice or editing: Guided writing, revision, or feedback
Wrap-up: Summary of progress and next steps

Who my lessons are for:

- High school, college, and university students writing essays, reports, or theses
- Non-native English speakers navigating academic writing in English
- Professionals preparing research papers, proposals, or applications
- Anyone looking to improve their academic writing skills in a supportive, structured way
