About James
Hi, my name is James and I am a first-year undergraduate student at Warwick Business School studying BSc Accounting and Finance. Despite my degree choice I have always had a passion for Economics and Maths, my reasoning behind my degree choice is that I wanted a degree and department that was more practically focussed around obtaining the best possible career. I am currently on track to achieve a first for this year. Throughout my A-levels, Economics was my strongest subject alongside Maths, I achieved 98% in my end of first year exam in Economics and got full UMS in Maths and obtained a 90%+ average in my final exams. I always enjoyed the reasoning behind Economics, but also the mathematical logic required to understand scenarios. This therefore allowed me to excel through my a-levels but also transfer a lot of process I created for my revision into university life.

I believe the ability to understand exactly what the examiner is after is the key to obtaining high marks alongside sound knowledge. With this comes an element of structure to answering exam questions, especially in Maths and Economics. Therefore, I believe that answering exam questions is the key to success. I can help students by providing my methods to answering exam questions, these methods have been tried and tested through my a-levels where I mentored some peers to help them get better marks. I will structure the lessons by first answering any questions and clarifying any key concepts in a simple but effective way, with logical steps to help tutees understand the topics fully. I am also an avid reader of the economist alongside the financial times and both of these magazines allow for a practical application and understanding that I look to implement in my tutoring sessions. I personally believe a real-world awareness is crucial to obtaining a high mark in Economics and Maths exams.
