About Julie
As a dedicated mother of three incredible kids aged 20, 18, and 10, my venture into the world of social skills coaching has been shaped by both professional expertise and personal experience.
Originally trained as a speech pathologist, my career path evolved into the realm of written communications. However, the unique challenges of the COVID-19 lockdowns reignited my passion for social skills, particularly as I observed my children navigating social complexities.
With a rich background as a leader for the Girl Guides, I recognise the pivotal role social skills play in the holistic development of young people. My coaching philosophy emphasises the value of providing explicit instructions, steering away from a purely trial-and-error approach, and understanding the impact of structured guidance.
Committed to evidence-based practices, I have chosen the PEERS program as my primary method for working with teens and young adults. This research-grounded approach aligns seamlessly with my belief in offering systematic guidance to cultivate social success.

I offer teenagers and young adults (and the not-so-young) the tools to improve their social skills to build and sustain strong, long-term friendships and relationships. This training gives people a blueprint for social life success.
Our programs are for anybody who would like to improve their social skills.
I use the PEERS Social Communication Skills for Young Adults program. This is the only evidence-based social skills program available for young adults.
During our 60-minute lessons, I will take you through a step-by-step guide on initiating, maintaining and strengthening friendships and improving social connections.
The program can be customised for your specific needs, but topics include:
-How to start conversations
- Finding reliable sources of quality friends
- Electronic communication – do’s and don’ts
- Appropriate use of humour
- Entering group conversations
- Exiting conversations
- How to plan for social events & steps for enjoying social times.
- Handling disagreements
-Handling direct bullying
-Handling indirect bullying
-Show good ‘sportsmanship’
-Changing a bad reputation
-Handling rumours and gossip
-Handling rejection, teasing and bullying.
The program includes lessons, role-play videos and behavioural exercises all developed by the PEERS clinic at UCLA.
