About Danny
I’ve been building for the web professionally since 2000 — back when the dot-com boom was still happening — and I’ve worked across both agency and in-house teams on real production systems for organisations including the BBC, The Guardian, Sky, Channel 4, Orange and Vodafone (plus government work via agencies).
Today, I work as a Front-end Engineer at an AI-focused technology company, where AI and agentic coding are a core part of how we build software. I use tools such as OpenAI Codex extensively in my day-to-day development — not just to generate snippets of code, but to understand codebases, plan and implement features, debug problems, refactor, test and review production software.
That means I can help with traditional web development — JavaScript, TypeScript, React and the fundamentals behind them — but also with the way software development is changing: how to work effectively with AI coding agents while still understanding, questioning and taking ownership of the code they produce.
Alongside shipping products, I’ve spent a big chunk of my career doing what I enjoy most: helping developers improve — mentoring juniors, supporting career switchers, and guiding people through the “stuck” moments that tutorials don’t solve.
I’m originally self-taught, so I understand the gaps that learners hit (and how frustrating they can be). I later formalised that foundation with a BSc in Computer Science, completing it alongside full-time work and graduating with First Class Honours in 2023.

My lessons are practical and deliberately flexible. I don’t follow a fixed lesson plan or try to squeeze every student into the same structure — we work on what will actually help you most.
You might bring along a project you’re stuck on, a concept you don’t understand, some code you want to improve, an assignment you need help getting your head around, or simply an idea of what you’d like to learn next. We’ll take it from there.
I can help with everything from the fundamentals of HTML, CSS and JavaScript through to TypeScript, React, Svelte, Git, debugging, architecture, performance and the realities of working with larger production codebases.
Increasingly, that also means AI and agentic coding.
I use AI coding agents extensively in my professional work, particularly OpenAI Codex, and I can help you learn how to use them as part of a real development workflow — not just asking an AI to write a function or explain an error.
That can include using agents to explore and understand an unfamiliar codebase, plan features, implement changes across multiple files, debug problems, write and run tests, refactor existing code, review their own work, use Git effectively, and iterate on a task with increasing levels of autonomy.
Just as importantly, I can help you learn how to work with an agent as a developer: giving it useful context, writing effective instructions, recognising when it's heading in the wrong direction, reviewing what it produces, and knowing when to intervene.
If you’re new to development, we can use AI alongside learning the fundamentals rather than pretending it doesn’t exist. If you’re already a developer, we can focus much more heavily on agentic workflows and how AI is changing day-to-day software engineering.
