About Mariko

I’m a native Japanese speaker originally from Japan and have lived in the U.S. for many years. My experience living in both cultures gives me a unique perspective on language, communication, and cultural differences.

I enjoy connecting with people and creating a relaxed environment where you can ask questions freely and learn without pressure. I’m patient, dependable, and genuinely enjoy helping people understand not just Japanese, but Japan itself.

About the lesson

My lessons focus on practical Japanese for real-life situations, especially for adults and professionals who want to communicate naturally and confidently in Japanese.

Beyond vocabulary and grammar, I teach the cultural and social nuances that are essential for communicating in Japan, including business situations, everyday conversations, and appropriate expressions for different settings.

Having lived in both Japan and the U.S., I can explain not only what to say, but also why and how it is used in Japanese culture.

Lessons are personalized to your goals and level. Students are also welcome, but my specialty is helping adults develop practical Japanese they can actually use in the real world.
