I am a dedicated guru and active performing artist belonging to the Barhiya Gharana, a vibrant and authentic musical tradition developed from the prestigious Gwalior Gharana, one of the oldest and most respected gharanas of Hindustani classical music.
I hold a Ph.D. in Music and have been recognized as an All India Radio ‘A’ Grade Artist. Over the years, I have served permanently with Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, various schools, colleges, and cultural departments, contributing extensively to music education and performance.
Currently, I am associated with Nritya Kala Mandir, Patna, while continuing my active engagement in stage performances across the country.

Namaste,
I am Dr. Bam Shankar Mishra, a teacher of North Indian Classical Music and an active performing artist. I train students according to the pure, raga-based classical singing tradition, enabling them over time to sing almost all forms of Indian music with proper understanding and technique.
My teaching methodology places special emphasis on swara purity, raga awareness, rhythm (laya), emotional expression (bhava), and disciplined practice (riyaz). Students are not taught to merely memorize songs; instead, they are guided to understand how to think within a raga, how to sing it correctly, and how to develop and elaborate it artistically.
