About Frances
I am an award-winning poet and essayist with an MFA in Creative Writing from Cornell University and a BA in literature & philosophy from Bennington College. I have worked as a copyeditor, copywriter, and essay tutor for six years and have experience teaching composition to undergrads and high school students at Cornell. Currently, I am a TA for Johns Hopkins University, where I edit and assess graduate student writing.

I believe in writing as an exploratory act that can enrich the mind of the writer as well as the mind of the reader. By assisting with mechanics, organization, and critical thinking skills, I help students to not only strengthen their writing, but to approach their writing as an act that can heighten their engagement with the content at hand, themselves, and the world. I am available to work with students of all ages on assignments ranging from the personal to the analytical to the creative, and across multiple subject areas.
