About Sebastien
I teach the nation's longest running UC/CSU approved Hip Hop Culture course, which empowers students to express themselves through creative writing, spoken word poetry, and rap.
The course is endorsed by the Arts, Media, and Entertainment division of CTE at the California Department of Education and is a model program for schools across the state. I have an extensive background in the music industry and leverage my experience to inspire high school students to reach their artistic potential.

My teaching style is informal and laid back.
Lessons vary between storytelling (fictional or factual), songwriting, rap/poetry performance, and lyrical analysis. A typical lesson plan may consist of identifying a theme/topic, examining the work of artists with similar themes, and writing a song, poem, or creative work in the same style. I then review the draft, give pointers and advice, until the student has a completed work of art they feel confident about.
These lessons are best for students between 13 - 18 who have a genuine interest in creative writing and self-expression.
