About Simon
I have taught physics for over 22 years, mostly at two top-rated schools, Tiffin Boys’ in Kingston and The Judd School in Tonbridge, where I was Head of Physics, and where I gained a Physics Teacher Award from the Institute of Physics. I now full time as a physics specialist tutor online.
I have a BSc Honours degree in Applied Physics, a Diploma in Industrial Studies, Qualified Teacher Status, Chartered London Teacher Status and am a Fellow of the College of Teachers. I have a current full DBS certificate.

The lessons I provide are carefully tailored to meet the objectives of the student – these may be quite wide-ranging or focus on specific discrete topics. I can assess ability, areas of subject knowledge weakness, how each student best learns and how to build confidence and understanding. My lessons will include theory and explanation, contextual reference, worked examples and help with specific questions. Any notes produced by me during the lesson will be left with the student. The duration will be one hour, and if part of a series of lessons, will begin with a recap and appraisal of the previous lesson. I can cover all aspects of GCSE and A-level Physics (including guidance for the A-level practical qualification) for AQA, Edexcel, IB and most other boards. I would be just as delighted to raise a student from a level 3 grade to a 4, as I would an 8 to a 9; I am happy to assist at all abilities. I am also qualified and experienced in providing teacher training for the Physics elements of KS3 and KS4 science teaching and can support and refresh Biology and Chemistry teachers with any areas of Physics they are not fully confident with (and help answer some of those tricky questions from students!).

Perfect! We have had three sessions with Simon and it’s evident that a key strength is that he takes the time to get to know his students. Feedback has been that his teaching is thorough - in fact rigorous which has been very helpful!. His sessions have a very good balance of conceptual and worked examples focusing not only on “answering the question” but answering the question in a way to gain maximum marks in an exam context. Great teaching and great at “nudging” your child in the right direction in terms of confidence and adopting more rigour independently. Thumbs up!
- Good progress in first lesson. Continue looking at electric circuit problems.Simon's response :

Simon has been a great tutor for my son who will be entering Upper Sixth. Simon is disciplined and patient in his approach to tutoring and his extensive years of teaching (not just tutoring) are evident. The feedback he provided on a personal level for my son was spot on - I felt he got to know how his brain ticks in a very short time! He provided lots of useful hints and tips on the subject and was always very easy to communicate with. We were very lucky to find Simon and so I happily recommend.
Simon is a hugely knowledgeable Physics teacher who has helped our daughter bridge some major gaps in Physics GCSE due to poor health. He is patient, calm and engaging, using a range of tools to cover key concepts and adapting his style to individual students. We highly recommend him!
Simon is an incredibly knowledgeable teacher who is able to bring out the very best in his students. He is trustworthy, committed and a pleasure to work with. He can teach Physics and related subjects to students of all abilities and with great success.
Simon is a qualified and experienced Physics teacher and can teach complex concepts in simple, accessible steps to any students. I have worked with him for many years and witnessed his ability connect with students.
