With years of experience as a performer, percussionist, and vocal coach, Mike brings a balance of professionalism, patience, and personalized instruction to every lesson. His approach blends technical skill-building with creative exploration—ensuring students not only learn to play but also understand and feel the music. Understanding Basic Music Theory – Learning simple concepts like notes, rhythm, and scales helps students build the confidence to read and interpret music.
Developing Fundamental Techniques – From proper posture and hand positioning to basic exercises, establishing good habits early ensures long-term progress and minimizes frustration.
Cultivating Listening and Practice Skills – Encouraging students to actively listen to music and maintain a consistent, focused practice routine reinforces skills and fosters a deeper connection with their instrument.
