About Luke
Hi, I’m Luke! Last year, I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in physics (and a minor in biology) and then started a biophysics PhD program at UCSF. Since then, I decided to take a break from being a full-time student to explore medicine and other potential career paths. As an eighteen-year-old that has recently experienced the struggles of being a student and being unsure about my career, I’ve found that I can relate to students well and get them excited about learning and setting themselves up for the future. At the tutoring center I work at, I’ve learned a lot about teaching and been able to help several students. However, I believe I can have an even bigger impact on students by doing 1 on 1 tutoring and having full freedom/control over the instructional material I use. My favorite part about tutoring is seeing concrete improvements in students’ grades and confidence, as well as their excitement about their progress. I hope we can make lots of progress working together! I’m based in Pasadena and believe in-person tutoring is more productive, but I’m able to do online sessions too!

Hi, I'm Luke! Here's a little bit about my tutoring experience: I greatly enjoyed helping my peers and friends with university level math and physics during my time in college. Although I skipped high school, I've also become familiar with high school curriculum by tutoring AP Calculus and AP Physics at a tutoring center. At the center, I've also tutored elementary to middle school level math, SAT math, and ACT math+science. At the tutoring center, I usually taught 3 students at a time, so I was able to experience firsthand how to get various different types of students excited and engaged. I believe that every student requires a different approach, and I love discovering what makes each student thrive. I've also become quite experienced at finding or putting together useful resources and practice material for any kind of topic, which is very important for remaining productive and making timely progress. I also enjoy giving advice to students about their educational journeys. My typical approach with new students is to first identify specific weaknesses and gaps in knowledge, then teach any missing concepts and provide helpful tips/methods, and finally work through relevant practice material until the student is fully comfortable. I'm based in Pasadena and believe in-person tutoring is more productive, but I'm able to do online sessions too!

Luke tutored me for my calc 2 and intro to physics classes. Before I met him I had a C+ in my class. He helped me truly understand the content and brought my grade up to an A! He is intelligent and encouraging and treated me like family.
