About Zanna
My name is Zanna, I became deaf when I was three years old and grew up in a predominantly hearing world. I connected with the Deaf community as a teenager and at university and have truly found my place now. I feel it is important that everybody has access to communication and that is why I teach sign language!

Hello! I am a profoundly Deaf BSL tutor and work with students at levels 1-3. I have experience working online and in schools. I am currently in training to become an interpreter with a strong connection to the deaf community. My lessons will cover grammar, fluency, vocabulary, conversation, receptive skills and exam practice. Lessons with me will always be fun, including games and learning about cultural/ historical context. I tailor lessons to individual needs to match your learning style and goals. I have experience working as a Communication Support Worker in primary settings and experience teaching students with autism and ADHD.

Perfect! Zanna is personable, experienced, flexible and very keen to adapt her teaching to my needs as a 62 year old deafened student. I look forward to our lessons. We are at the beginning of our journey but she has already given me many tips that are helpful. I like it that she teaches without using her voice and we can message when really stuck. This helps me stay in the mindset of BSL rather than switching back and forth from English to BSL. She is able to talk to me but I can’t really hear a response!
Perfect! Great communication and fun inclusive way of teaching
Perfect! Zanna always prepares helpful PowerPoint slides, and recaps key vocab from the previous lessons. She's also very friendly and so patient with me when I don't understand something!

Zanna helped me lots with BSL. She is kind, patient and made learning really fun! I can’t wait to keep learning with her :)
Three years ago, I worked with Zanna as a learning support assistant in a London secondary school. Zanna worked closely with students with autism, running one-on-one and small group sessions on reading and compression. Zanna is an incredibly kind and patient teacher, who has a very adaptive teaching style. As a native English speaker, she has fantastic English abilities. She is also hard of hearing (although I wouldn't have known before she told me) meaning her BSL skills aare excellent.
As someone who's gone on to become a teacher, I really cannot recommend Zanna enough - I would love to have her working with students I currently teach!I worked with Zanna in a junior school where she worked as a Communication Support Worker. She provided invaliable lessons in British Sign both the members of staff and to students of all ages, 1:1 and in groups. A fantastic experience, both professional and fun!
