About Jessica
Hi! I’m a nurse with a BScN and MEd, and I’ve always had a genuine interest in learning, teaching, and helping others grow. I have a particular love for anatomy and physiology and enjoy understanding how the different systems of the body connect and work together.
Throughout my nursing career, one of the things I’ve enjoyed most is mentoring nursing students and new nurses. I love creating a comfortable space where people can ask questions, work through something they find challenging, and build confidence in their own abilities.
I also understand what it’s like to be a student. I completed both my BScN and MEd through asynchronous education, which required a lot of independent learning, organization, and self-motivation. I know firsthand how overwhelming it can be when you’re looking at a complicated topic and aren't sure where to begin.
While I’m new to formal tutoring, supporting and mentoring others is something I genuinely enjoy. My goal is to make learning feel approachable and to help students understand the material rather than simply memorize it.
I’d love to work with students who are studying anatomy and physiology, nursing, or related health-science subjects. Whether you need help understanding a difficult concept, preparing for an exam, or simply want someone to talk through the material with, I’m happy to help!

I’m new to tutoring, but I’m not new to learning. I’ve completed both my BScN and MEd through asynchronous education, so I understand firsthand what it’s like to work through challenging material independently and figure out how to make information actually stick.
My approach would be relaxed, personalized, and focused on understanding rather than simply memorizing. I especially enjoy anatomy and physiology, and I love breaking down complex concepts into smaller, easier-to-understand pieces. I believe that when you understand the “why” behind something, memorizing the details becomes much easier.
My teaching approach
I would start by getting to know how the student learns best and what they are currently struggling with. From there, we could use a combination of explanation, diagrams, examples, practice questions, discussion, and active recall. I would encourage students to explain concepts back to me in their own words so we can identify any areas that need more attention.
A typical lesson
A lesson might begin with a quick conversation about what the student wants to accomplish that day. We would then focus on one or two specific concepts, breaking them down step-by-step. I would use examples and visuals where helpful, followed by practice questions or having the student teach the concept back to me. We would finish by reviewing the key points and identifying anything they should continue working on independently.
What sets me apart
Although I’m new to tutoring, I bring the perspective of someone who has successfully navigated multiple years of higher education through asynchronous learning. I know how overwhelming a difficult course can feel when you’re trying to figure everything out on your own. I want my sessions to feel supportive and judgment-free, while helping students become more confident and independent in their own learning.
Who my lessons are for
I’m particularly interested in working with students who are taking anatomy and physiology, as well as students in nursing or other health-related programs who need help understanding foundational concepts. I’m happy to work with students at different levels and adapt sessions to their individual needs.
