About Maki
Nice to meet you! I'm Maki, a Japanese teacher
Born and raised in Japan, I've always loved traveling and searching for delicious local spots!
In my lessons, instead of just studying grammar, we'll learn "living Japanese that you can use right away in Japanese towns and shops" by having fun and talking a lot. It's a cozy atmosphere where the conversation never runs out, so please relax and speak without worrying about making mistakes!
I myself love new challenges and meeting people, and my greatest joy is seeing my students smile when they say, "I was able to say what I wanted to in Japanese!"
"To have an amazing Japan experience where you won't feel lonely even while traveling alone, and can toast with locals with a smile in a local spot"—I will support you wholeheartedly until you can speak with confidence!

[Trouble/Pain Points ️]
"I studied textbook Japanese, but when it comes to real conversations, nothing gets across..."
"On my next trip to Japan, I want to visit not just famous tourist spots, but also regional countryside areas and local izakayas. However, traveling alone in places where English isn't spoken makes me a bit nervous..."
Have you ever felt that way?
・Confused by the difference between textbooks and real everyday conversation
・Wanting to order as naturally as a local at an izakaya or ramen shop
・Wanting to enjoy local talk with Japanese people while traveling, but struggling to catch fast-paced speech
[What I Can Teach & Lesson Style ]
◆ What You Can Learn
・Practical Local Travel & Food Culture Phrases: Conversation skills that make your trip 100 times more fun, such as how to order naturally at an izakaya, customize your ramen, and ask locals for recommendations!
・Escaping "Textbook-sounding" Japanese: Training to get used to natural aizuchi (backchanneling), nuances, and the raw speed of everyday Japanese.
・Regional & Local Information Sharing: Let's talk a lot about the deep charms and culture of Japan that aren't in guidebooks! Of course, I'll also share my own recommended travel plans 🫣
◆ Lesson Style
My style is all about having fun and talking a lot! I will keep asking you questions so you get plenty of speaking practice, and you never have to worry about the conversation running out.
