About Whitman
I am a junior in high school and have been playing chess since 3rd grade. Last year I successfully led a class of 1st to 4th graders in an afterschool program last year, contributing to their 2nd-place victory in their 1st major tournament. I hold a rating of 1870, tied for 169th overall in Illinois, and currently hold the title of K-12 Chicago City Champion. Not to mention I have led in part my highschool team, with a 9th place finish at last years state finals.

I have Chess played since 3rd grade, and have brought my US Chess Official rating up to 1870, which makes me the 169th best Chess player in Illinois according to US Chess. Not to mention, I am also the reining K-12 Greater Chicago Chess Champion, a title I won at Mcormick Place last year. My method to teaching chess is similar to my method of teaching English. We will review the games of grandmasters and analyze there choices. I will teach you the many mini-skills required to get to my level, and help you improve your chess reasoning and desicion making. Like with my English method, it would be best if you brought online or tournament games to review and grow your skills.
