About Maria
At GSCE, I fell in love with studying Classics and it has been my passion ever since. I tutor this subject because it brings me joy to share my knowledge and experience, and would love to inspire and cultivate a love and appreciation for the subject in my students. I also write poetry, and have published 3 poetry books. I hope to pursue a PhD in Classics.

I employ a flexible approach to target your particular needs, whether that pertains to understanding course content, broadening your understanding of social and political factors of a time period, analysing ancient literature, essay writing, as well as using visual and archaeological sources.
I believe in applying methods that will develop your independent thinking skills, equipping you with the tools necessary to delve into any Classical topic. As a tutor, I go beyond mere revision and explanation of a certain topic (although that will of course be implemented as needed), to ensure success in your goals.
My experience:
I achieved an A-star at Classical Civilisations A-level, and now study Classics at King’s College London, with first-class results on exams and essays. In my spare time, I work on independent research (focusing on 5th century BC Athens and the Peloponnesian War), but my lessons are not limited to any time period.
My lessons are typically one hour long, but this is flexible – length of lessons can be tweaked to the student’s needs and goals.
My lessons are primarily targeted to GCSE and A-level students studying Classical Civilisations or Ancient History, although I can work with any age and level (typically below undergraduate level). I do not offer lessons in Ancient Languages.
