About Alexis
I am a college English professor, with over ten years of experience teaching college writing, creative writing, and English Literature. Although I began my academic journey earning a degree in music, I decided to follow a different passion and went back to school for English Literature and Writing, eventually earning my MFA in Creative Nonfiction Writing at American University in Washington, DC. In addition to reading and writing, I've amassed a great deal of yarn as I attempt to outfit every member of my family with my knitting. I am a high school and NCAA track and field official and the proud owner of four cats.

I work with college students to develop effective writing for college courses.
I emphasize that writing is a process that includes pre-writing and brainstorming, outlining, developing ideas into a rough draft, organization, style, and revision.
I help students with research, giving them skills to how to evaluate sources, use information, and document all sources correctly to avoid plagiarism using MLA, APA, or Chicago styles.
