About Maya

Hello! I am currently studying Early Childhood Education and Special Education PK–12, where I am working toward becoming a certified teacher.

Through my university coursework and classroom observations, I have developed knowledge of special education, differentiated instruction, structured literacy, and strategies for supporting students with diverse learning needs. My academic experience includes observing students in kindergarten through third-grade learning support classrooms.

My approach to learning emphasizes patience, clear explanations, step-by-step instruction, and individualized support. I believe students learn best when concepts are explained in an understandable way and they have opportunities to practice their skills and ask questions.

I am committed to continuing to develop my knowledge and skills in education while building positive learning experiences for students. My goal is to help students strengthen their understanding, develop confidence, and make progress toward their academic goals.

I am currently a transfer student in college pursuing a Dual Certification degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education PK–12. I am working toward becoming a certified special education teacher.

Previous Teaching Experience and Methods

My experience includes coursework and field observations related to early childhood education and special education. Through my academic work and classroom observations, I have developed an understanding of structured literacy, explicit and systematic instruction, differentiated instruction, and strategies for supporting students with disabilities. I am interested in using step-by-step instruction, modeling, guided practice, and individualized support to help students understand and apply new skills.

Student Ages and Teaching Context

My experience includes observing students in elementary school settings, particularly kindergarten through third grade, in learning support classrooms. These experiences have allowed me to observe how teachers adapt instruction to meet students' individual academic needs. I am continuing to develop my teaching skills through my university coursework and field experiences, with the goal of working with young children in early childhood and special education settings.
