About Cory
Hi! My name is Cory, and I am a Software Engineer at Google! I received a full ride to attend the University of Southern California (USC) to study Computer Science and Engineering. I have an academic focus on Mathematics and Physics. My passion for these subjects extends beyond the classroom, as I have been actively involved in tutoring for over five years.
Throughout my academic journey, I have developed a deep understanding of complex mathematical and physical concepts. I have participated in national math and physics competitions in high school, and continue to excel in advanced STEM courses in college. My computer science and engineering studies have further enhanced my problem-solving skills and my ability to think logically and analytically.
As a tutor, my goal is to help students understand the material and instill in them a passion for learning. I believe that any student can perform well in these subjects with the right guidance. I have a patient and empathetic teaching style, and I always tailor my approach to suit the individual needs of each student.
In addition to my academic pursuits, I am an undergraduate researcher at USC. I research the security vulnerabilities of autonomous drones while utilizing machine learning to aid in the process of making them less susceptible to attacks.
I look forward to the opportunity to help students achieve their academic goals and develop a love for learning.

My lesson plans vary from student to student. While I emphasize what has worked for me throughout my studies, I recognize that every student learns differently. The first session with all my students will start with an open dialogue about what kind of learning best suits them. I will then structure a rough lesson plan that caters to their specific learning style, aided with the help of an advanced machine learning model.
Beyond the first lesson, I implement the same approach in explaining difficult concepts in many ways. If my student does not grasp the concept right away, I ask them to point out a few things that cause them confusion. I will then attempt to explain the concept differently until they understand.
Something I always emphasize in my lesson is called "Reverse Roles Scenario." At the end of every lesson plan, I allow students to pretend to be the tutor and explain their thought processes when solving a problem. The best way to optimize the retention of a subject or a concept is to be able to clearly articulate the problem-solving thought process.
