About Sonny
Hi, I’m Sonny — a creative professional with a passion for film & television, storytelling, and education. Originally from the Netherlands, I now live in Somerset West, South Africa, where I run a guesthouse in the scenic Winelands with my wife and our young son. My career has been a journey across disciplines — from working in film and media, to leading hospitality projects, to lecturing at university level. At the heart of all these roles is a core strength: helping people tell their stories in a way that is authentic, impactful, and creatively sharp. I specialize in video production, script development, and format creation for TV, film, and digital platforms. Whether you're a student wanting to build your first short film, a content creator looking to sharpen your format, or someone preparing to pitch a project, I offer guidance that is practical, creative, and industry-informed. What sets me apart is my combination of technical knowledge, real-world experience, and a deep understanding of how to connect emotionally with audiences. I'm also a patient, supportive mentor who believes that good storytelling is a craft — and one that can be learned with the right structure and encouragement.

Creating Impactful Stories: Professional Video Production and Creative Format Developer for Film & TV
Profile Description:
Hi, I'm Sonny — a seasoned creative with a rich background in Television Production, Format Development, Media Education, Digital Marketing and Storytelling. With years of experience as a senior lecturer and project consultant, I’ve honed a strong ability to guide individuals and teams from concept to screen.
I specialise in helping aspiring TV and filmmakers, content creators, and students develop compelling video projects, build story-driven formats, and understand the mechanics of narrative structure, whether for television, film, or digital platforms. My approach blends creativity with real-world practicality — every project is an opportunity to make an impact, tell a human story, and connect with an audience.
Having worked on diverse media and hotel ventures, I bring a unique lens to teaching — one that’s rooted in emotional intelligence, clear structure, and audience engagement. Whether you're developing a new YouTube series, writing a short film, or pitching a format to a network, I’ll help you think like a producer, create with intention, and polish your final product.
