About Mike

I am a student at the University of Amsterdam and I have been tutoring in English and Dutch (reading comprehension) since the fourth grade. I do not focus on achieving good results, but mainly on the development of the student himself. This means that I always give the student the space to discover which techniques or which ways of learning work best for them, I try to stimulate them as much as possible to think creatively and to choose the best way for themselves. For example, to extract the meaning from a text or to write a text.

About the lesson

Because I teach in English, I teach with a fairly free structure. That means that I adapt my lesson style to the student themselves, because learning to understand a language works differently for everyone. My focus in teaching is mainly on the student learning to understand better English instead of learning all the grammar and spelling rules by heart, this gives the student space to think for themselves instead of learning to apply learned rules.
