About Calvin
I'm originally from Colorado and graduated from Metropolitan State University of Denver with a degree in computer science and minors in mathematics and management. After college, I started working remotely as an engineer at Zoom and made the bold move to Los Angeles to push myself out of my comfort zone. Since then, I've worked across different areas of engineering—including production services, systems engineering, and software development. Math and science have always been at the core of my interests and continue to play a big role in my work as an engineer. I stay curious and enjoy learning new concepts, and I’m passionate about sharing that curiosity with others. I've been fortunate to have great tutors throughout my education, and now I’m excited for the chance to give back and help students feel more confident and capable in their learning.

I start by quizzing students across different subjects to see what they’re confident in and where they need more help. From there, I focus on the areas they’re struggling with, breaking things down into smaller, easy-to-understand parts. A typical lesson includes reviewing concepts, working through problems together, and giving extra practice similar to what they might see on a test.
What makes me different is that I’m a recent graduate and now a software engineer. I’ve been in the student’s shoes and know how it feels to struggle and succeed. I also manage teams now, so I bring that mentorship experience to every session.
My lessons are for middle and high school students looking to improve in math, science, or physics. Whether it’s catching up, getting ahead, or preparing for tests, I tailor lessons to each student’s goals.

Calvin’s helped me so much with calculus. I was totally confused with stuff like limits and derivatives before, but he explains things in a way that actually makes sense. He’s super patient and never makes you feel dumb for asking questions, even if you ask the same thing a couple times.
He’s also just really easy to talk to, so our sessions are chill and not stressful at all. Since we started working together, my grades have gone up and I feel way more confident in class.
