About Aalish
First and foremost, I am a lover of history. (Nerd, I know). I am currently studying at the University of Edinburgh for a degree in Chinese and History. So alongside truly loving history, I also love learning languages! In particular Chinese! My favourite periods of history are: medieval history and modern history. I particularly love women's and queer history as well as learning modern Asian history. Aside from history, I love nature and going on long walks and sea swims! I love exploring new places, particularly old towns and castles because I think it is really cool to see the history all around you!

History involves a lot of essay writing. This can be challenging, however, there are easy formulas to remember that help you to achieve higher marks in these! Through consistent repetition I will help you to achieve higher marks just through altering you technique in writing essays!
There can be a lot to remember in history but there are so many different ways to do this! From helping to create Quizlets (something I found very useful in my A-Level History), to creating timelines and character profiles, history can be really exciting! A technique I have found very useful in both teaching and studying History is to either pretend it is a story or to treat it like gossip! Our brains have a unique way of being able to remember the gossip of our peers and so relating this to history is a really good way to remember all the key historical facts you need to know!
I am always happy to explore new ways of learning history and I am highly adaptable to each student's unique needs.
I am currently an undergraduate History student at the University of Edinburgh and have achieved an A* in both History A-Level and History GCSE. I am fully DBS checked in working with young people. Previously, I have tutored both A-Level and GCSE History at my local high school. My greatest achievement was in tutoring a student who started at Grade E at the start of his final year of A-Levels to achieve a B in his final exams enabling him to go to his top choice university. As I am currently based in Edinburgh, all lessons will be online and run for around an hour, extending to longer or shorter periods depending on my student's needs and proximity to exams.
