About Iqra

Hi! My name is Iqra, and I'm a qualified primary school teacher with a First Class Honours degree and an MA in Education. I also advocate for neurodivergence acceptance and education in my ethnic and faith communities. As such, I not only take education seriously but I'm very passionate about it in its many forms. My niche interests include World History, English Language and Literature, World Literature, Geography, Religious Education (particularly Islamic Education and Ethics), Interculturalism and the Humanities in general. I also have a keen eye for linguistics! I'm very personable and friendly, and always happy to answer any questions students may have about the learning content. I strive to ensure that learning is made accessible, therefore no question is considered silly. Please feel free to ask any questions that you may have, as it helps to solidify your learning!

About the lesson

My teaching methodology centres on an interdisciplinary, learning-centred approach where the learner's needs are top priority. I encourage an interactive, discussion-based learning, providing an environment of openness and meaningful talk. I also like providing and sharing video and article resources that'll help students gauge information in a way that suits them. These are not meant to be strictly formal lessons, so relax and don't worry about formalities! My typical lesson length for a History class is anything between 30 minutes to an hour, so I can provide room for questions, any further discussion and critical evaluation if need be.

Regarding History, I like to deviate away from the strict guidelines of the National Curriculum, and instead add in my expertise of knowledge to enhance what is already known to create a learning environment of curiosity and criticality, rather than conforming to state-school curricula.

These lessons are ideal for all key-stage students who are looking for insightful education that welcomes curiosity and intersectional knowledge, nurtures individuality and discussion, and encourages wider thinking.

Not only that, she also had videos ready about the subjects that we were talking about and gave me sources to look up myself in my free time as well.
