About Manuel
I am from the Caribbean coast of Colombia and have been teaching for over 11 years. I have experience with a wide variety of ages and demographics, having worked with displaced and at-risk youth for many years. My partner is from the United States, and, out of a shared love for cultural education, we co-founded an oral history museum in my hometown. We both love sharing history and culture with our visitors from all over the world.
In Colombia, I studied teaching and public administration, and have always been extremely active in community development. More recently, I have relocated to the United States where I have worked an an international high school teaching International Baccalaureate Spanish.
I enjoy hiking, cooking, travelling, and, of course, teaching!

As a native Spanish speaker from Colombia with over 11 years of teaching experience, I have a passion for sharing the richness of Latin American culture. My teaching philosophy revolves around fostering communication and confidence in my students, believing that these are the cornerstones of language learning.
In each lesson, I prioritize interactive activities tailored to the individual needs, goals, and learning styles of my students. Whether you're a beginner or looking to enhance your conversational skills, my lessons are designed to engage you actively in the learning process. From vocabulary drills to immersive cultural discussions, every session is crafted to build your language proficiency while also immersing you in the vibrancy of Spanish-speaking cultures.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my holistic approach that integrates language with cultural context. Drawing from my experience as founding director of an oral history museum in my hometown, I offer unique insights into the cultural nuances that enrich the Spanish language. Beyond grammar and vocabulary, I aim to cultivate a deeper appreciation and understanding of the history and culture of the Spanish speaking world.
My lessons are for anyone eager to learn Spanish, regardless of age, background, or proficiency level. Whether you're a student aiming for fluency, a professional seeking to enhance your language skills, or simply an enthusiast eager to explore Latin American culture, I'm here to guide you on your language learning journey.
