About Richard
I have just completed a master's degree at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and earning a living through performing, teaching, and writing about music. I have studied for two years with Thomas Martin (London Symphony Orchestra) and Tony Alcock (City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra), and prior to this I studied with Charles Wall (CBSO). I completed my undergraduate degree at St Anne's College, University of Oxford, graduating in 2018 with a first-class grade.

I like to make lessons enjoyable, focusing mainly on what music my students want to learn whilst introducing them to new pieces that they may like. I use a broad range of repertoire including solo pieces, orchestral excerpts, studies, and short learning pieces that I compose for students. I teach French-style bow.

Perfect! Richard is very patient and knowledgeable. He is an excellent communicator and has inspired our teenaged son, who looks forward to his lessons on double bass. We highly recommend Richard.
- Sue's son Isaak has shown real talent and great musicality and is picking up things quickly.Richard's response :
