About Isabel
I am originally from New York City and recently graduated from Oberlin College with a B.A. in Neuroscience and double minors in Politics and Environmental Studies. My hobbies are cooking, photography, and sports.
As a high schooler at the Brearley School, I scored a 5 on the AP Biology exam, a 790 (out of 800) on the Biology M SAT2, and engaged in Advanced Science Research seminars and wrote a grant proposal on Drosophila genetics and pharmacotoxicology. As a Neuroscience major at Oberlin College, I wrote a senior paper on neuroinflammation and neurotoxicology of environmental pollutant and used drug toluene.
I am passionate about the intersections of the science and the social and how people work. I love biology because it is about making sense of life, and solving puzzles that are meant to make sense but also inspire.

I can tutor any elementary, middle, high school or undergraduate level Biology.
My tutoring is always with personalized lessons. I am a very detail-oriented tutor so we can get into specifics or I will be able to package the details into big picture, things like flow charts and overall diagrams, if you are a big-picture learner. This also gives us room to be fun and interactive.
Biology is full of systems working towards goals. I like to have us understand goals of systems so that even if details are forgotten you can always make your way back to them because we have a grasp of why systems are working.
