About America Margarita
I am a Magna Cum Laude Bryn Mawr College graduate with a B.A. in Honors Mathematics and Economics. I am also a NYC Public Library Certified Teacher in Reading for grades Pre-K to 2nd grade.
I am a huge believer that anyone can learn math or any subject they are struggling with. Usually what happens is we have an awful experience with *subject* or the teacher and from that day on we HATE that subject. However, sometimes we are lucky enough to find a teacher who completely changes our feelings towards *subject*. I have been on the end of both scenarios and I am now a full-time tutor because I love to pass on my knowledge but more importantly, I love to heal the relationship students have with subjects they “hate”.

I love getting to know students before we start working together. Typically we would set up a meeting where we would chat, and say what we like to do for fun, what has been a good learning experience, what is your preferred learning style, and how can we make each of our jobs easier. I find that this allows me to build rapport with my students so that our meetings have a safe environment and good ambiance. Before our next meeting, I ask that students send me their class notes, homework, or other material they may need help with so that I can prepare appropriately. I understand that it is sometimes hard to keep track of everything so I also don't mind going into a meeting without knowing what we will be working on. We will typically work 1-4 hours depending on how much students wish to do so. Meetings can be daily, weekly, biweekly, or however many times as desired.

Perfect! America has been a great math tutor for my 7th grader. She is knowledgeable, able to navigate the various learning platforms and follows through on what they work on together. She cares about my son's success and he actually enjoys the tutoring sessions. Highly recommend!
Perfect! America has been working with my high schoolers in pre calculus and geometry. She is organized and really simplifies her explanations so that students can really understand what they are doing. She is thorough and I couldn’t be happier. She also takes extra steps to make sure they in fact do understand their assignments. My kids feel a lot more confident and less stress starting each week.

America is a highly knowledgeable and experienced tutor. She also knows how to best tailor her lessons to benefit the student and their learning style. America was my tutor for calculus and introduction to economics and she helped me excel in both classes. Rates from $30-$50 per hour. $30 covers one hour sessions where I help students with their homework as well as understanding class material/notes. $40 covers everything included in $30 plus weekly check-ins, and one weekly personalized lesson on a topic of students choice. Lastly, $50 covers everything included in $40+$30 plus student access to my phone number where I answer any questions, comments, concerns 24/7, two (instead of one) weekly personalized lesson on a topic of students choice, and per unit mock quiz.
