About Kelsie

Hello! I am a dedicated educational professional and academic coach with 10 years of experience specializing in 1:1 student mentorship, English tutoring, and virtual learning support.

Over the past decade, I have realized that academic success is about so much more than just memorizing facts—it is about confidence, organization, and connection. My career has been defined by a relationship-centered approach. I pride myself on building genuine, trusted partnerships with my students, creating a supportive and judgment-free space where they feel truly heard and motivated to succeed.

Why I Do What I Do

Traditional classrooms don't always fit every student's unique rhythm, and independent or online learning can often feel incredibly isolating. I stepped into academic coaching because I love helping students bridge that gap.

I specialize in working with online school students, hybrid learners, and those navigating non-traditional schedules. My passion lies in taking the anxiety out of independent coursework, helping students master their weekly pacing, and breaking down complex English, writing, and literacy concepts into accessible, clear milestones.

Whether your student needs help crafting a standout essay, sharpening their reading comprehension, or simply needs a dedicated accountability partner to help them stay on track with their virtual curriculum, I am here to guide them every step of the way. Let's work together to unlock their full potential and turn academic stress into independent confidence!

My Teaching Approach & Techniques
My methodology is built on relationship-centered mentorship. I don't just lecture or give answers; I act as an academic coach. Many students struggle in virtual or independent environments because they lack structure, not intelligence.

I use a scaffolded approach—breaking complex writing assignments, literary analysis, and independent online coursework into highly accessible, bite-sized weekly goals. By pairing rigorous academic pacing tools with genuine encouragement, I help students reduce anxiety and take ownership of their own learning schedules.

📝 A Typical Lesson Plan (50 Minutes)
Every session is structured to build immediate momentum and long-term habits:

The Check-In & Pacing Review (5–10 mins): We review the student's upcoming online modules, assignments, and current pacing goals to see where they stand for the week.

Targeted Skill Building (25 mins): We dive into the core material—whether that is drafting an English essay, reviewing reading comprehension, or tackling an academic project. I use collaborative digital tools so we can edit and brainstorm together in real time.

Guided Practice & Application (10 mins): The student takes the lead on a task independently while I provide real-time feedback, ensuring they feel confident doing the work on their own.

The Wrap-Up & Accountability Plan (5 mins): We map out explicit, realistic milestones for them to complete before our next session so they never fall behind.

What Sets Me Apart
With 10 years of experience in academic coaching and virtual student support, I bring a unique blend of subject-matter expertise and executive functioning mentorship.

While many tutors simply show up to help with a single night's homework, I specialize in the "big picture." I understand the unique ecosystem of virtual schools and independent learning. I build trusted relationships with my students, teaching them how to manage their time, organize their thoughts, and maintain consistency.

Who the Lessons Are For
My sessions are specifically tailored for:

Levels: Middle School, High School, and introductory higher education.

Subjects: English, essay writing, reading comprehension, and general academic pacing/organization.

Specificities: I specialize heavily in supporting online school students, hybrid learners, and student-athletes who navigate non-traditional schedules and need a dedicated 1:1 accountability partner to stay on track.
