About Adrienne
My name is Adrienne Young. I am passionate about the field of education, and I have had the opportunity to work in various educational settings and with a wide range of age groups. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Sociology and a Master of Arts in Education with a focus in Instructional Design from Virginia Tech. I also have a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from Radford University. Additionally, I earned a certificate as a Trauma and Resilience Specialist in Education (CTRS-EC) focusing on Early Childhood Education. In my free time, I love to travel! One of my favorite times of year to travel is fall, especially when I have the opportunity to visit small mountain communities.

As a tutor, I aim to create an engaging and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring concepts. Here's an overview of my approach:
Assessment and Goal Setting: I start by understanding the student's current level of understanding and their learning objectives. This helps me tailor the tutoring sessions to their specific needs and goals.
Clear Communication: I break down complex concepts into simpler, more digestible pieces of information. I use plain language and relatable examples to ensure the student grasps the material thoroughly.
Interactive Learning: I believe in active learning, so I encourage students to participate actively during sessions. This can include asking questions, solving problems together, or engaging in discussions related to the topic.
Adaptability: Every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching style to suit the individual preferences and learning pace of each student. Whether they learn best through visual aids, hands-on activities, or verbal explanations, I strive to accommodate their needs.
Feedback and Reinforcement: I provide constructive feedback to help students identify areas for improvement and reinforce their understanding of the material. I also offer plenty of opportunities for practice and review to solidify their knowledge.
Empowerment: Ultimately, my goal is to empower students to become independent learners. I teach them not just what to learn, but also how to learn effectively on their own. I encourage critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a growth mindset.
Resources and Support: I offer additional resources such as study guides, practice problems, and recommended readings to supplement our sessions. I'm also available to answer questions and provide support outside of scheduled tutoring sessions.
Overall, my approach is student-centered, interactive, and focused on fostering a deeper understanding of the subject matter while building confidence and self-reliance in the student.
