About Emmelianna
Hello! I am Dr. Emmelianna Kumar. I am a passionate Scientist and Educator with a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, an MSc in Wild Animal Biology (Distinction) and a BSc in Psychology (First Class Honours). With a proven track record of scientific excellence, I have received several prestigious awards for my work.
With over 20 years of experience, I have taught and mentored students across all Key Stages, from primary to university levels, including MSc and PhD supervision. In addition to private tutoring, I deliver lectures and training courses at universities and mentor early-career scientists. I have extensive experience in supporting students with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN). I’ve also studied otters for 16 years, in the wild and in the lab and authored a children’s book about them!
I hold professional qualifications in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (TLiHE) from the Royal Veterinary College and certificates in Behavioural Management, Autism Diagnosis (3Di), and Working with Children with Autism and ADHD. I’m a member of Royal Society of Chemistry and Royal Society of Biology.
As an environmental science consultant and researcher for a UK government organisation, I design and implement scientific research, present at international conferences, chair a journal club and engage in educational outreach to inspire the wider community in science.
My interdisciplinary background blends scientific expertise with a deep understanding of learning. I integrate these insights into lesson planning and delivery, enriching students’ learning experiences. My passion lies in inspiring young minds, sharing my knowledge and enthusiasm for Biology and Chemistry, while equipping students with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive academically.

I teach Biology and Chemistry across all Key Stages, including IGCSE/GCSE, A-Level/IB and Higher Education (BSc, MSc and PhD), tailoring each lesson to individual needs.
