My Approach as an English Tutor
Teaching Method & Techniques
I use a student-centered approach that blends structure with creativity. Lessons are tailored to each learner’s goals—whether that’s mastering essay writing, analyzing literature, improving grammar, or preparing for standardized tests. I emphasize:
Active learning through discussion, questioning, and collaborative exercises.
Scaffolded instruction (breaking down big skills into manageable steps).
Real-world connections so students see how English applies beyond the classroom.
Formative feedback after every lesson to ensure steady growth.
A Typical Lesson Plan
Warm-Up (5 minutes): Quick writing prompt, vocabulary activity, or discussion starter.
Mini-Lesson (10–15 minutes): Direct instruction on a focus skill (e.g., thesis development, figurative language, rhetorical analysis).
Guided Practice (15–20 minutes): Students work with support—writing paragraphs, annotating texts, or practicing close reading strategies.
Independent Practice (10–15 minutes): Student applies the skill to their own work.
Wrap-Up & Feedback (5–10 minutes): Reflection, goal-setting, and targeted feedback.
What Sets Me Apart
Engaging lessons that balance academic rigor with creativity.
Clear progress tracking so students and parents see measurable improvement.
Supportive environment that builds confidence, not just skills.
Adaptability for diverse learners—including advanced students, struggling readers/writers, and English language learners.
Who My Lessons Are For
Grades 6–12: Middle schoolers building foundations, high schoolers refining advanced skills.
