I like to foster a creative and exploratory approach to English that is solidly grounded in the curriculum, but that also goes beyond the scope of the classroom to ensure that every one of my students stands out and shines in both their writing and in class. This method involves sharing ideas and research in literary theory and linguistics, considering context in dynamic ways, and offering nuanced perspectives on texts that spark excitement. It is because of this that I have been successful in encouraging previously reluctant students to engage with English at both GCSE and A-level. I believe in the transformative power of literature and teach it as a tool through which young people can discover themselves and the world we live in. I offer lessons to GCSE and A-Level English students and maintain a literature specialism. I am experienced in the WJEC, AQA, and OCR specifications, and have tutored internationally in the American college system. I provide editing and proofreading to all of my students, and give detailed feedback on essay drafts. I have solid experience in the university application and personal statement writing process and have helped numerous students make that exciting leap into higher education. I have been using online platforms since I began tutoring in 2012 and use a digital workbook as a collaborative teaching tool. I create an online document for each of my students and this document is a work in progress between my student and I. Together we work on in-depth analyses of texts (AO1, AO2), essay planning and writing, contextual knowledge (AO3), connections between texts (AO4), and snapshots from critical research on their subject (AO5). Come exam/assignment writing time at the end of the year, this document functions as a personal revision guide tailored to each student's interests, skills and learning level.

Perfect! Megan is an amazing tutor! She has been tutoring my daughter in her first year of 6th form English literature. My daughter has grown in motivation, and confidence, doing so much better articulating her learning, knowledge and even enjoyment of the literature. She always looks forward to sessions with Megan. Megan is so friendly, knowledgeable and responsive to my teenager, she has made such a difference and I can't thank her enough. I completely recommend Megan to you.
- Enthusiastic, generous and thoughtful interpretations of the text. Excellent grasp of how language shapes meaning. We need to distill all these great ideas into structured writing that hits all the AOs. Strong start!Megan's response :

Megan does not do tutoring by numbers but instead is able to focus on the real needs of each individual student.
For me Megan is an excellent tutor who quickly identified my daughter's preferred learning style and delivered personalised lessons that were tailored to her individual educational needs. She is creative ,motivational and encouraging.
My daughter really looked forward to Megan's lessons each week and thanks to her support she exceeded all expectations in her A level English exam this summer. Furthermore my daughter knows Megan is always available for sound advice based on experience as she starts her University journey .View more recommendations
