About Mohammed Shihab Mohammed
I am Dr. M. Shihab Patel, currently associated with the Structural Engineering department as an Assistant Professor. In addition to the lectures for undergraduates and postgraduates, I am also actively involved in the structural consultancy services in terms of proof-checking, bridge load test, structural auditing, mix designs and other associated field works as well as laboratory developments. I have completed my research program and defended my viva-voce for Ph.D. in Civil Engineering under the Offshore and Water Resources Research Cluster on 8th May 2020.

Since technical teaching involves lots of fundamental concepts and a firm grip on mathematical formulae along with laboratory tests, I always make sure that every student is actively involved in the subject through quick revision minutes and collaborative learning techniques like group work. It is also imperative to assess student's knowledge and grasping power, for which I evenly conduct technical assignments and weekly projects which is a key for self-learning and development. My technical subject assignments shifts away from the traditional approach as they focus more on analytical thinking and problem-solving.
