About Akhil
I am a researcher at Northwestern University with a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering. My academic background is focused on statistics, data-driven decision-making, optimization, and analytics, and I have taught and supported several quantitative courses at Northwestern University.
I enjoy helping students understand mathematical and statistical concepts intuitively and build the skills needed for college-level coursework, data analysis, and research. My goal is to make advanced quantitative topics approachable while helping students develop strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

I teach statistics, probability, biostatistics, machine learning, and research methods from the basic to advanced level, with a particular focus on high school students who want to prepare ahead for college-level quantitative courses or develop the skills needed to work on research projects.
My teaching approach focuses on building intuition first and then developing the mathematics behind it. I want students to understand why a statistical method works, when it should be used, and how to interpret the results. I use examples, visual explanations, small datasets, and practical problems to connect mathematical concepts with real-world applications.
Depending on the student's level and goals, we may also use Python or R to analyze data and see how statistical and machine-learning methods are applied in practice. For students interested in research, I can also help with developing research questions, designing studies, working with data, selecting appropriate statistical methods, interpreting results, and presenting findings.
I have extensive experience teaching and supporting university-level quantitative courses at Northwestern University, including Operations Research, Optimization, Operations Management, Supply Chain Modeling and Analytics, and Managerial Analytics. My own academic training includes advanced statistics, statistical learning, predictive analytics, simulation, optimization, and data-driven decision-making.
I can help students build a continuous path from high-school mathematics to college-level statistics and eventually to independent research.
The lessons are suitable for high school students, advanced high school students preparing for college, undergraduate students taking introductory statistics or probability, and students who want to strengthen their quantitative skills for research projects, science fairs, independent studies, or future college research.
