About Merryn
Hiya! I’m Merryn. I am a recent A-Level graduate who achieved A*A*A in English Language (OCR), Film Studies (WJEC Eduqas) and Sociology (AQA). I tutor these three subjects, as well as GCSE English Literature, English Language and Drama.
My goal is to make exams feel less intimidating by giving students clear structures, personalised essay formulas and a 'no-wrong answers' space to practise. Whether a student is anxious about writing, struggling with coursework or simply wants to improve their grades, I love helping them feel capable, organised and in control.
My academic interests focus in social and political science, particularly, media, film interpretation, multiculturalism and feminism. Outside of my studies, I enjoy cinema, reading, travelling and activism.

My approach to tutoring focuses on exam technique and clear essay‑writing formulas, personalised to each student’s writing style. I aim to build confidence through simple, repeatable structures, and I tailor every session to the student’s needs — which is why I usually request a sample of previous work before our first lesson.
A typical lesson lasts a minimum of 60 minutes (though I’m flexible if a student needs longer) and includes explanation, guided practice and personalised feedback. I also provide a written summary of our session and identified strengths and weaknesses afterwards and can set additional tailored learning tasks.
