When I teach I like to maintain a holistic approach and cater my teaching style to my student's needs. My lesson lengths reflect this with them ranging between 30 to 60 minutes depending on the workload for the session.
In lessons I typically have my student explain a concept that they don't understand, or show me a piece of work that they want feedback on. This way we can step through their current level of understanding and build on it until they are happy with their level of knowledge.
