About Abigail
I love my subject and am passionate about inspiring students to do the same. Having obtained high grades in English throughout my education (Grade 9 in GCSE English Literature; Grade 8 in GCSE English Language; Grade B in A Level English Language and Literature), and a 2.1 Bachelor's degree in Arts and Humanities: English Literature and Classical Civilisation, you can be assured of my high level of competency. I have over two years' experience tutoring adults and children. I have experience teaching various exam boards: AQA, Eduqas and Cambridge IGCSE (first and second language) in particular. I have experience of working as an LSA at Wixams Academy. I also teach TEFL to all ages. I am currently involved in teaching Ukrainians relocating to this country. I am an encouraging and supportive teacher who is able to draw out the best in my students, and to inspire them with confidence.

I will tailor each lesson to suit my student's individual needs, working closely with them to help improve their literacy skills. I am patient, positive and supportive, building on a student's strengths to help them achieve their full potential.
For KS3 - KS4, I prepare students in detail for the requirements of the GCSE exams, clearly explaining the mark scheme, providing extensive practice from past paper questions and exemplar responses, so they will be confident that they are fully prepared for the exam.
For KS1-KS2, I will work closely with each child on spelling, punctuation and grammar; reading comprehension skills, sentence formation and composition. I will use a variety of activities depending on my student, including engaging PowerPoint presentations, interactive grammar games and creative writing prompts.
Lesson length will vary depending on the age of the child. For KS4 lessons are usually 60 minutes long, whilst for KS1-2 this could be 30-45 minutes.
