About Lily
I am an especially passionate and determined individual who is very work orientated. Math has always been a strong subject for me and I have found myself in many situations where I have provided my classmates with math help. I also have 5 siblings which has helped me develop my tutoring skills as I often help them in times of academic trouble. I have an almost uninterrupted A+ history in nearly all my subjects and have won awards in the Math Olympiad and Australian Mathematics Competition. I am new to tutoring but I hope that my enthusiastic attitude and academic achievements can make up for that.

Hi, I'm Lily. I am 15 years old and am eager to find students in year 8 or below who are struggling in math or in year 7 or below who are looking to extend themselves.
In our lessons we would focus on practicing, preparing then extending.
I would begin each lesson by asking the student what they are focusing on in their school maths lessons so that I can make sure we are making a connection to their current focus. I would then assess their understanding of the topic so far through asking to see the work they have done, giving them verbal or physical problems involving that topic and/or simply allowing them to explain where they are up to themselves. We would then look at what they are struggling with, if anything, and try to figure out the root of the problem. I would never give them the answer to any problem, we would try to work out the solution together whether that means starting at the foundation of that topic or pointing out a simple mistake. We would then practice an adequate amount of problems in that area until we are both certain they will never get a similar problem wrong again.
From there we would begin to prepare for any upcoming tests or assessments. This would involve worksheets and practice tests along with any further explanations that are needed.
If I believe they have an exceptional understanding of that topic and are set for a guaranteed A+ we would then look at extending. This could be the next step of that same topic or another area that the parent or student has requested.
