About Carmen
I am a law student at the University of Tartu and have been teaching Estonian as a second language for the past year. During this time, I have realised that teaching is something I would like to continue doing — I genuinely enjoy seeing my students progress and become more confident using Estonian.
I believe it is important to create a friendly and relaxed atmosphere where students feel comfortable practising Estonian, asking questions, and making mistakes. I adapt my lessons to each student’s level, goals, and individual needs.
I am an active and curious person, so I’m sure we will always find plenty of interesting topics to talk about in Estonian!

During the lessons, we will discuss different topics, write, listen, and read — working on various language skills so that the student becomes increasingly confident using Estonian. The lessons are practical and adapted to the student’s level and goals. I use a variety of learning materials and, when needed, find or create additional exercises to help develop specific language skills.
For school-aged students, I can also provide help with homework when needed, while at the same time placing importance on developing independence and learning skills.
I believe we will quickly find common ground and make learning Estonian enjoyable and natural. Step by step, we will work towards helping the student feel more confident in Estonian and achieve their language-learning goals!
