About Simi
I am a passionate computer science enthusiast backed by a robust academic journey from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Currently my main role is as a Cloud Consultant at Amazon where I have received nine notable IT certifications. During my time as a Computer Science Tutor at Towson University, I worked closely with undergraduate and graduate students, navigating the nuances of various computer science courses.
Having tutored at Towson University for nearly two years, I've not only taught but also learned from a myriad of students and undergone rigorous training. This has honed my techniques, ensuring I am attuned to the unique needs of each student. My collaborative spirit, reflected in my partnerships with other tutors and faculty members, keeps me abreast with the latest in tutoring best practices. Moreover, my industry experience as a Cloud Consultant at Amazon infuses a practical dimension into my teachings, creating a bridge between academia and the real-world industry.
While I have experience teaching both undergraduate and graduate students, my lessons cater to a diverse range, from novices to seasoned learners. My domain of expertise encompasses several computer science disciplines, including but not limited to Object Oriented Java, JavaScript, Python & C++, Databases, Networking, and Linux. Whether you find challenges in assignments, are gearing up for exams, or wish to broaden your knowledge spectrum, my sessions are meticulously crafted to address your objectives.

My method revolves around conceptual clarity. Instead of rote memorization, I encourage students to understand the underlying principles of computer science. Through hands-on practice, real-world examples, and interactive discussions, I simplify complex technical topics, making them digestible for my mentees.
A session usually begins with a brief review of the previous lesson or a discussion on any challenges faced during assignments. I try to make the lessons along the students needs but if they have no particle needs or assignments, I would give them exercises followed by introducing the new topic of the day, breaking it down into smaller segments. After the theoretical aspect, I provide practical exercises or case studies related to the topic, ensuring students can apply what they've learned.
My teaching philosophy emphasizes the importance of understanding and trust. I believe in fostering a comfortable and open environment where lessons are interactive and less formal. This approach allows my mentees to truly immerse themselves in the learning process, ensuring they feel safe and encouraged to ask any question, no matter how trivial it may seem. By cultivating a strong mentor-mentee relationship, I aim to inspire confidence, making academic and professional achievements feel more attainable.
