As a licensed elementary education teacher with nearly nine years of teaching experience, my approach as a tutor is centered on making mathematics meaningful, engaging, and easy to understand for every learner. I strongly believe that students learn best when lessons are connected to real-life situations and when they feel confident enough to ask questions and explore different ways of solving problems.
My teaching method combines step-by-step instruction, guided practice, and interactive game-based learning strategies. I use clear explanations, visual representations, manipulatives, and real-world examples to help learners grasp mathematical concepts. I also integrate questioning techniques that encourage critical thinking and problem-solving rather than simple memorization. For younger learners, I use fun activities, educational games, and relatable scenarios to keep them motivated and actively engaged in the lesson.
A typical lesson usually begins with a short review of previously learned skills to strengthen retention and identify any misconceptions. This is followed by the introduction of a new concept using concrete examples and simple explanations. After the discussion, learners are guided through practice exercises with my support until they are ready to solve problems independently. I always conclude each session with a quick formative assessment or reflection activity to ensure mastery and to plan the next lesson according to the student’s needs.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my strong background in game-based and realistic mathematics education. I design lessons that are not only academically sound but also enjoyable and learner-centered. My years of classroom experience have helped me develop patience, adaptability, and the ability to differentiate instruction for students with different learning styles and ability levels. I also focus on building learners’ confidence and fostering a positive attitude toward mathematics.
My lessons are ideal for elementary and middle school students, particularly those who need support in foundational mathematics skills such as number sense, fractions, problem-solving, and basic algebraic thinking. These lessons are also suitable for learners who need enrichment, remediation, or preparation for classroom assessments and competitions.
