About Courtney
I am an experienced middle and high school English teacher. I received my BA in English from Meredith College, and I have taught for 10 years in public schools in North Carolina in every grade from 6th-12th grade. I consistently help my students achieve high test scores and clear understanding of topics such as essay writing and reading comprehension. My students tell me that I help them understand the material in an approachable and friendly way--it is okay to make mistakes with me as long as you keep trying!

I can provide lessons and instructions in just about any English topic you can think of, but my teaching strengths are in writing. I try to make all lessons relevant to my students' interests and learning styles, meeting students where they are and helping them grow to meet their goals. I like to provide many examples and opportunities for students to practice with me before submitting assignments in higher stakes situations.
