About Andrew
I am an oil painter working in London. I have a studio in Wimbledon where I do my lessons and supplement my art practice facilitating acrylic painting workshops in central London. I hold a Master's in creative practice from Leeds Arts University and have plenty of experience in varied areas of art ranging from set design, curation, exhibition set up, portfolio creation and painting. I specialise in oil painting and teach various academic techniques ranging from the Venetian school to modernist and post-modern methods.

I like to use a hands-on approach demonstrating technical skills backed up by a good knowledge of the literature surrounding my subject and its contemporary applications. I encourage students to work alongside my practical examples and also go the extra mile to send further information to them such as reading lists and slides from my presentations.

Perfect! I had a really great two-hour lesson with Andrew, learning the steps to paint a face with oil paints. He explained everything step by step, which made it easy to follow and really enjoyable. Such a patient and easygoing teacher, and I came away feeling much more confident. A really great lesson!
Perfect! I had a very specific brief: I want to learn gouache painting for jewellery. Andrew was very well prepared and knowledgeable. He was very patient and kind. I enjoyed my lesson very much.
Perfect! Practical advice, patience, encouraging, friendly and inspiring
- Claire was very enthusiastic and keen to learn, she was open about what she wanted to improve on. It was a great experience to provide her with some guidance and do exercises that she engaged with wholeheartedly. I look forward to arranging another lesson soon.Andrew's response :
Perfect! Perfect! Andrew is a very experienced artist with a passion for art! At the outset, he took the time to find out about my goals; he has taught me about a range of art materials, and provides exercises to increase my knowledge of fundamental techniques for drawing and painting. Andrew’s teaching is very clear and well-structured, with an engaging manner. I highly recommend his lessons

Andrew is extremely skilled, attentive, patient, kind and passionate about his work. Highly recommended.
Andrew is vastly knowledgeable in his field and has great insight. His passionate and outside-the-box approach to his study is something many find truly inspiring. He is down to earth and lighthearted thus very comfortable to be around, no question or theory is too radical! I couldn’t recommend him enough for in-person tutoring!
Going round an art gallery with Andrew is a fabulous learning experience. He is so knowledgeable about all art eras and styles. I have learned so many great techniques from him to enhance my own art work. He also has a great sense of humour so it's fun!
