About Leela
I have been a French tutor for ten years and hold two university degrees, in International Relations and Anthropology, as well as a French Baccalauréat in Economics and Social Sciences. After living in Canada for two years and Ireland for five years, I chose to return to the French Riviera, where I am now based.
Throughout my career, I have worked with many English-speaking students looking to improve their French, as well as with young French students preparing for the Brevet, Baccalauréat, or language exams as part of their higher education.
Driven by a strong desire for personal growth and excellence, I have taken part in several national competitions in history, literature and creative writing. These experiences helped me inspire and support my students as they work towards achieving their own academic and personal goals.

I truly believe that the first essential step towards improving your French is building confidence. When students believe in their own abilities, they can truly unlock their full potential.
My lessons are fully personalised: each session is tailored to the student’s needs, goals and pace of learning. With a structured yet flexible approach, I adapt my materials — including texts, videos, exercises and discussions — to make every lesson engaging, clear and motivating.
I place particular emphasis on speaking and listening comprehension, as these are often the areas where learners feel the least confident. Together, we explore topics that spark curiosity — from current affairs and culture to literature and art — so that French becomes more than just an academic subject: it becomes a genuine tool for communication and personal development.
My goal is simple: for every student to leave my lessons feeling more confident, more independent and proud of their progress.
IMPORTANT: The first lesson is not free. It is an important part of the learning process, as I use a series of assessments to identify the student’s strengths and areas for improvement and create a personalised learning plan.

Leela was recommended to me by a friend. I liked her teaching style. She was always well prepared and her lessons were well structured. There was a mix of Oral Comprehension and Informal Conversation along with translation of sentences from English to French which practised specific grammar points. She always sent me the notes from each class at the end of the session which I found very useful for revision and reinforcement. I would definitely recommend Leela as a Super Prof!
Leela has been a fantastic tutor over the past few months. Her lessons are much more interactive and relevant than previous tutors I have tried out. It seems like she goes out of her way to tailor my lessons to me specifically, focusing on the areas where I have room for improvement and on topics relevant to me specifically. I would certainly recommend her to anybody considering 1:1 tutoring
