About Anika
As a tutor, I bring four years of dedicated experience helping students achieve their academic and personal goals. I’m currently studying Government and Linguistics at Harvard University, where I’ve continued to build on a strong foundation in teaching, mentoring, and education policy. I’ve worked with students from middle school through college—both in the U.S. and in India—supporting them in everything from academic writing and English language learning to preparing college applications and mastering complex concepts in the humanities. I am also certified to teach both English and Hindi, and I bring a multilingual, culturally aware perspective to all of my lessons. I approach every session with professionalism, preparation, and care. My goal is to meet students where they are and help them grow with clarity, confidence, and curiosity. I prioritize structured lessons that adapt to individual needs, and I always work to create a supportive, judgment-free space where students feel safe asking questions and taking intellectual risks. Whether you're refining a personal essay, learning a new language, or preparing for a major exam, I’m here to help you succeed—not just in a single subject, but in your long-term learning journey.

My approach as a tutor is grounded in empathy, adaptability, and empowerment. I prioritize understanding where each student is coming from—academically and personally—so I can tailor lessons to meet their specific needs and learning style. Whether I'm working with high school students writing college essays or undergraduates studying linguistics, I create a supportive environment that encourages curiosity and critical thinking. I see my role not just as someone who transfers information, but as a guide who helps students gain confidence in their own analytical and creative abilities. I draw from my own experience as a Harvard student studying Government and Linguistics, as well as from four years of tutoring and teaching in both formal and informal settings, including through Harvard programs and school district advocacy work.
In terms of structure, a typical lesson begins with a quick check-in and goal-setting moment. I then introduce or review key concepts, using discussion, examples, and active questioning to keep the student engaged. We apply those concepts through interactive exercises—this could involve editing sample essays together, translating short passages for language learners, or breaking down complex texts or political theories depending on the subject. At the end of each session, we briefly review progress and set a focus for the next lesson. I also provide optional follow-up resources and notes for independent practice.
What sets me apart is the range of experiences I bring—I've worked across disciplines (from language to writing to civics), across age groups (middle school to college), and across cultures, including through fieldwork and policy education in India. I'm certified to teach Hindi and English, and my multilingual abilities (Spanish, Tamil, and conversational Hindi/Urdu) allow me to connect more deeply with diverse students. My lessons are ideal for high school and early college students looking for structured support in writing, language learning, social science subjects, or test preparation, as well as for those seeking mentorship in navigating the college application process.
