About Svetlana

I bring a high level of professionalism grounded in decades of teaching experience, strong subject-matter knowledge, and a deep commitment to student success. I am reliable, well-prepared, and dedicated to creating respectful, effective learning environments that build trust, confidence, and measurable progress for every learner.

About the lesson

My lessons focus on practical communication, clear pronunciation, and cultural understanding. Each session is personalized to the learner’s goals, pace, and interests, combining structured language instruction with real‑life conversation, authentic materials, and proven teaching strategies for adult learners and kids.
My teaching approach is student‑centered, structured, and flexible, adapting to each learner’s age, language background, goals, and learning style. I combine communicative language teaching with explicit instruction in grammar, vocabulary, and literacy, ensuring both practical communication skills and strong academic foundations.

Key elements of my methodology :
Lessons are tailored to the student’s level, pace, and objectives—whether conversational fluency, academic Russian, literacy development, or heritage language maintenance.
From the earliest stages, students actively use Russian in speaking, listening, reading, and writing through guided conversation, role‑play, and real‑life contexts.
Lessons follow a precise sequence: introduction of new material, guided practice, meaningful application, and review. This supports confidence and long‑term retention.
With extensive experience in ESE, ESOL, gifted, and bilingual education, I use visual supports, scaffolded tasks, repetition, and differentiated strategies to ensure success for all learners.
Language learning is enriched with cultural elements (traditions, history, literature, and everyday life), helping students understand not only how Russian works, but how it is used.
I provide clear feedback, encourage self‑correction, and create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable making progress.
I am a Master‑level educator with over 32 years of professional teaching experience in the United States and internationally.
I hold a certificate from Moscow State University (MGU) and have been teaching Russian online since 2016.

Online Instruction Experience
I provide individual and small‑group online lessons for:

Children and teenagers
Adult learners
Heritage speakers and bilingual families
Students learning Russian as a second or foreign language

School & Tutoring Background
I have taught Russian language, literature, and social sciences in both public and private educational settings, as well as through private tutoring and online instruction.

Strong Pedagogical Foundation
My background in history, social sciences, ESOL, and special education allows me to integrate critical thinking, language structure, and academic discourse into my Russian lessons.

Professional, Patient, and Culturally Responsive
I consistently build respectful relationships with students and families, supporting motivation, discipline, and steady progress in an online learning environment.
