About Lai

I am an experienced piano and theory teacher. I have more than 30 years of experience in teaching piano. I helped more than 100 students prepare for their ABRSM exams, from grade 1 to grade 8. Almost all of them passed their exam, and with 30% merits and 8-10% distinction. I also teach Grade 5 music theory (class and individual lessons) for 20 years, the results with 40% merits and 20% distinction.

About the lesson

For fun lessons, each lesson contains 2-3 activities in the following list: rhythm practice, playing songs, piano duet, aural (for ABRSM grade exam), theory and basic music history. As an experienced piano teacher, I can adjust different learning methods and materials to help my students to improve their weaknesses.

Perfect! Jo is amazing! Lessons with her are fantastic, she explains everything well, gives practical tips and on top of that she is very patient! What I love the most about lessons with her is the fact that Jo does not only focus on me playing the correct notes, she makes sure that I understand the melody of the song so it is played accurately. I highly recommend Jo!
