A lesson would typically run an hour. The first lesson I would explain proper warm-up techniques to the player. Warm-up would vary between 8-13 year olds and high school and beyond. Common techniques would be a dynamic warm-up to prepare the body to throw, followed by a jaegar band series and other upper body exercises to prepare the arm to throw. Following, we will start playing catch which would lead into some drill work where I will evaluate the pitcher and assign specific drills in order to best improve their mechanics. In a first lesson, I like to throw off of the mound and record some video where we can analyze the pitcher, check off common mechanics he/she does well, as well as address any flaws that need to be corrected. After the first lesson we can better gauge what the athlete needs to improve on mechanically and discuss what his goals are. Following the first lesson, we can come up with a plan on addressing each athletes specific goals. Goals could be velocity development, mechanical development, as well as mental development. After throwing we will go through a post-throwing arm care routine to ensure the athlete recovers properly for the next day. I have access to a portable, full-size pitching mound, target and net, as well as a radar gun and video analysis equipment to help each pitcher improve. I believe enjoying the game and the work that goes into improvement to be the most important part in helping an athlete grow. I like to end sessions with a fun, competitive game that brings the most out of each pitcher. For high school, college, and beyond pitchers, I have a weighted ball, velocity improvement class that I love to teach. It consists of exercises and throwing drills I have been taught by Driveline Baseball and other coaches and programs. It is recommended to be done twice a week for 4-6 weeks. All of the weighted balls and other equipment required will be provided. It is recommended to be done with a workout plan as well.
